Reducing energy usage initially requires evaluations and the use of testing equipment to pinpoint energy loss areas in a structure. A HERS (Home Energy Rating System) rating by a certified HERS rater can document improvements needed to achieve optimum energy efficiency. Applied Renewable Energy Group provides testing and documentation for required compliance with federal, state and local credits and incentive programs.

Distributed generation (DG) systems are defined as energy generated close to the point of use, to meet the needs for reliable quality on-site power. AREG's solutions include the integration of renewable energy producing reliable, grid equivalent or better power quality, including off-grid systems, auxiliary power distribution peek load shaving for intermittent and on-grid loads, emergency and stand-by power, generator control and battery charging.

How to Save $$$Complying with Residential Energy Codes

In today’s competitive economy, homebuilders are faced with tremendous pressure to control construction costs, increase sales, and improve home quality. At the same time, builders in many parts of the country must comply with energy codes, such as the Model Energy Code (MEC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). For years, builders have been concerned that energy codes raise their costs and squeeze their profit margins. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. A new group of building professionals, called certified home energy raters (or HERS Raters), have the knowledge and skills to help builders comply with energy codes, while reducing costs and increasing profits.

Senate Bill 1181, passed by the General Assembly and singed into law, includes a tax deduction for certified home energy audits and the recomendations of those audits, beginning with the 2009 tax year. To qualify for the deduction, the audit must be performed by an energy auditor, certified by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
